VK said in a statement that some VK apps are now blocked by Apple and cannot be downloaded and updated in App Store. VK applications already installed on smartphones can continue to work, and their core functions will be stable. However, the notification and payment function may encounter obstacles, and VK experts are working on it.

VK promises that VKontakte apps will also continue to run on Apple devices. In addition, users can use the mobile version of the website m.vk.com and the fully functional desktop version. VK will continue to develop and support iOS applications, and experts are doing their best to maintain and continue to improve user comfort.

CTOnews.com learned that according to foreign media SimilarWeb, Apple's deletion of the VK app means that Russian iPhone users can no longer access apps on the country's fifth most popular website, as well as other apps such as Mail.ru, VK Music and Youla.

Apple did not respond to why the VK app was removed. Earlier this year, Apple stopped selling products in Russia and blocked some Russian news apps from downloading abroad.

The Interfax news agency also reported on Tuesday that VK sold the assets of its gaming division My.Games to Alexander Chachava, the head of LETA Capital, who is also Russian, owns a company based in the Cayman Islands and managed to close the deal for $642 million. My.Games will continue to operate, touted by VK as a Russian alternative to Steam and Epic Games Store.
