CTOnews.com Sept. 28, Samsung officially announced that more than 10 million Samsung household appliances are now connected to the SmartThings platform.

Samsung SmartThings platform allows users to use voice-controlled compatible devices and set automation functions to easily manage household appliances. SmartThings can be used with hundreds of compatible devices, including lights, cameras, voice assistants, washing machines, refrigerators and air conditioners.

CTOnews.com learned that Samsung bought SmartThings in 2014 and re-launched the platform in 2018, doubling the number of its connected appliances. Samsung officials expect the SmartThings to break through the 12 million mark by the end of this year and 2000 million next year.

Samsung said that one of the main reasons for the increase in the number of SmartThings-connected devices is the efficient notification function. This feature notifies the user when the operation ends or when the device fails. In addition, the remote control function is also one of the common functions, and SmartThings regularly receives software upgrades that help diagnose and manage the product.

From June to August this year, the average number of monthly users of the SmartThings platform is about 1.5 times the average number of users from January to May this year.
