CTOnews.com, September 29 (Xinhua)-- after years of relative silence, Apple's Apple Car team is getting back to work and may restructure the team by the end of 2022, according to analyst Guo Mingyi.

Analyst Guo Mingyi shared his prediction in a tweet based on "survey" on Twitter.

CTOnews.com learned that the term Project Titan has long been used to refer to cars and self-driving vehicle systems designed by Apple. Numerous revelations show that Apple will develop fully self-driving cars that require little human intervention while driving.

Rumors of the Titan project date back to 2014, when the first leak described Project Titan's focus on cars. Apple founded the SixtyEight Research shell company and started working at the SG5 plant in California.

The Project Titan team has gone through many changes. Bob Mansfield, who took over as project leader in 2016, said Apple would not compete directly with Tesla.

A lot has happened since then, and the COVID epidemic is said to have been a factor in Apple's postponement of the project.

Mr Guo said Apple was unlikely to launch a new car before 2025.

Guo Mingyi said in August 2018 that the earliest release date could be 2023. Previous forecast dates include 2020 and 2021, and successive project delays are related to the departure of the team leader.

Currently, Guo Mingyi expects Apple cars to be launched between 2025 and 2027. Apple may work with Kia to build the car, which has approached other carmakers such as Nissan and Hyundai.
