Apple iPhone 14 is not as expected: 14 Plus is more popular than 13 mini, 14 Pro Max demand is hot

Now, DSCC analyst Ross Yang (Ross Young) gives some detailed data. This time he focused on the comparison of shipments of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro with last year's iPhone 13 series.
Young's latest data is based on panel order supply chain information, which essentially refers to the number of display panels Apple ordered from suppliers during the production of the iPhone 14. This can be used as an early indicator for Apple to select "which models to produce first" based on demand data.
The data show that panel orders for iPhone 14 Pro Max are 18% higher than those for iPhone 13 Pro Max in the same period last year. Meanwhile, orders for iPhone 14 panels fell 38 per cent compared with iPhone 13 in the same period last year.
Young's figures also show how popular the iPhone 14 Pro Max is this year, compared with the models that account for the majority of iPhone 14 panel orders. Overall, total orders for iPhone 14 panels this year are slightly higher than those for iPhone 13 in the same period last year, mainly due to increased demand for iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Finally, Young data show that panel orders for iPhone 14 Plus are significantly higher than those for iPhone 13 mini. CTOnews.com has learned that for now, Apple's iPhone 14 Plus is scheduled to go on sale on October 7 next week, and users will still be able to get the new phone on the same day, suggesting that Apple may have produced more Plus models than needed.
Bloomberg recently reported that Apple plans to increase production of the iPhone 14 as the holiday season approaches. But the idea was abandoned because demand was lower than expected. Guo Mingyi has also said many times that the iPhone 14 Pro Max is Apple's most popular iPhone this year.
