CTOnews.com, Oct. 3, at the recent Intel On Technology Innovation Summit, Intel announced the launch of Intel Quantum Software Development Kit (Intel Quantum SDK), which aims to help developers learn how to write quantum algorithms.

Intel said that the progress in qubits is an important step towards practical application of quantum computing, but that significant progress needs to be made across the entire hardware and software stack to realize the full potential of the technology.

CTOnews.com learned that Intel uses a system-wide architecture approach that involves a complete computing stack, from qubit architecture and algorithm research to electronic control equipment (control electronics), interconnection, quantum software tool chains and compilers, to the application layer.

The Intel Quantum Software Development Kit can be connected to Intel's quantum computing stack. The toolkit allows developers to write new quantum algorithms so that they can run qubits on simulated and real quantum hardware in the future.

At present, beta users have been using it to explore chemical, material and hydrodynamic simulations, as well as algorithms for solving linear equations, which can be used in real-world scenarios such as financial modeling.

According to reports, Intel Quantum Software Development Kit (SDK) has an intuitive user interface, provides a C++ language compiler tool chain based on LLVM, optimizes the quantum running environment specifically for hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, and high-performance Intel quantum simulator as the target code with qubits as the back end. In the future, this software development kit will be connected to Intel qubit hardware.

In addition, Intel plans to launch version 1.0 early next year. The test version of the Intel Quantum Software Development Kit is now available on the Intel developer Cloud platform (Intel Dev Cloud).
