Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com October 4 news, Sony PlayStation 5 game console has been able to achieve a preliminary jailbreak, players can install unsigned or unofficial games.

News of the jailbreak came from Lance McDonald, who shot to fame by releasing an unofficial patch that made Blood Curse run at 60 frames per second on PS4.

Lance McDonald shows how to open the debug menu on PS5 and successfully install PS4's PKG file, the game backup file. As can be seen from the video, PS5 has successfully installed Hideo Kojima's horror game "P.T.", which has long been removed from the shelves.

However, Lance McDonald said the jailbreak relied on Webkit vulnerabilities as an entry point, so it could only be tried on firmware 4.03 and older PS5, including the digital version of PS5. CTOnews.com learned that higher versions of firmware are currently not jailbreaking because they are not vulnerable to Webkit vulnerabilities.

In addition, although the vulnerability provides read / write access, it does not provide execution access. This means that although unofficial games can be installed, they don't actually work.
