CTOnews.com, Oct. 4 (Xinhua)-- the global semiconductor industry earned $47.4 billion (336.54 billion yuan) in August, down 3.4 percent from a month earlier, the biggest drop in three and a half years, according to the American Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA).
Among them, the revenue of listed semiconductor factories in Taiwan reached 445.165 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 99.717 billion yuan) in August, an increase of 9.73 percent from the previous month and 22.59 percent over the same period last year, mainly due to the monthly revenue of TSMC exceeding 200 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 44.8 billion yuan).
CTOnews.com learned that financial data show that TSMC's consolidated revenue in August 2022 was about NT $218.13 billion (about 49.297 billion yuan), an increase of 16.8% month-on-month and 58.7% year-on-year.
Specifically, the global semiconductor industry's August revenue fell 3.4% from $49 billion (about 347.9 billion yuan) in July, the biggest decline since February 2019, and a slight increase of 0.1% from $47.3 billion (about 335.83 billion yuan) in the same period last year.
In addition, August revenue in Europe increased by 1.5% from the previous month, up 14.9% from the same period last year; Japan's revenue decreased by 1.4% from the previous month, up 7.8% from the same period last year; US revenue decreased by 2.8% from the previous month, up 11.5% from the same period last year; and Chinese mainland's revenue decreased by 4.9% from the previous month and 10% from the same period last year.
