CTOnews.com, Oct. 5, according to the Taiwan Economic Daily, UBS Securities released a report saying that global smartphone shipments are expected to be about 1.23 billion units this year, down 9% from the same period last year.

Looking ahead to 2023, UBS expects the market to recover modestly, with shipments of 1.28bn units, up 3.5 per cent from a year earlier, CTOnews.com has learned.

According to the report, according to this year's estimated shipments, among the top five mobile phone manufacturers in the world, such as Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, vivo and OPPO, with the exception of Apple's slight increase of 2.3% in terminal sales, the rest will decline this year.

But by the first quarter of 2023, thanks to inventory digestion, shipments from mobile phone factories in the Chinese mainland region recovered rapidly. Of these, vivo grew by 27.5 per cent, followed by OPPO by 9.5 per cent and Xiaomi by 7.5 per cent. Apple is growing at zero, while Samsung is down 4.3% and will not return to growth until the second quarter.
