Apple releases AirPods / Pro / Max new Beta firmware, version number 5B5040c

CTOnews.com, Oct. 8, today, Apple released a new beta firmware update for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max for developers. The version number is 5B5040c.

Apple has been providing Beta firmware updates for the AirPods since the WWDC in June. Installing the Beta firmware requires iPhone running iOS 16, Mac running macOS Ventura beta, Xcode 14, and supported AirPods.

CTOnews.com learned that developers need to pair AirPods with iPhone, connect iPhone to Mac using Lightning cables, launch Xcode 14 beta on Mac, and select pre-release Beta firmware under "Settings-developer-AirPods Test".

Apple did not disclose details of the new firmware update for AirPods, and we don't know what improvements the new firmware will bring or Bug fixes. In addition, users can check the AirPods or AirPods Pro firmware by following these steps:

Connect an AirPods or AirPods Pro to an iOS device

Open Settings Application

Select generic

Select about

Select AirPods

Check the number next to firmware version.
