The upgrading of the mainframe system of the National Supercomputing Changsha Center is jointly funded by Hunan Province, Changsha City and Yuelu Mountain National University Science and Technology City, and Hunan University is responsible for the construction. CTOnews.com learned that the system uses Tianhe new generation supercomputer technology of the University of Defense Science and Technology, with a peak double-precision floating-point computing performance of 200p Flops (P: gigabytes, Flops: floating-point operations per second), data storage capacity no less than 20PB (1PB=104.8576 10,000 GB), and peak power consumption no more than 8 megawatts.

Since its operation in 2014, the National supercomputing Changsha Center has provided 1.6 billion-core high-performance computing, big data and artificial intelligence services to more than 2000 users in 40 fields, serving national and local scientific and technological innovation and regional economic and social development.

After the "Tianhe" new generation supercomputer is put into operation, the National supercomputing Changsha Center will make new and greater contributions in building advanced computing ecology, empowering industry development, serving digital government and digital society construction, supporting major scientific and technological innovation, and gathering high-level talents.
