The country's first 120 TEUs pure electric inland river container ship made its maiden voyage in Taicang, Jiangsu Province: 220 km, with only 20 minutes to change electricity.

CTOnews.com, October 10, according to CCTV news, the Jiangyuan Lily, the country's first 120TEU pure electric inland river container ship, left the Yangtze River Taicang Port this morning and put into operation in the 80-kilometer section from Taicang Port to the Suzhou Industrial Park Port of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, marking the beginning of the "electric era" of inland river transport in Jiangsu.

The "Jiangyuan Lily" has a total length of 79.92 meters, a width of 12.66 meters, a speed of 17 kilometers per hour, and an endurance capacity of 220 kilometers. It is currently the largest pure battery-powered inland river container ship in the country. The ship uses a container battery as its power source and adopts a plug-and-pull power exchange mode, which takes only 20 minutes and achieves "zero emission and zero pollution" throughout the voyage.

It is expected that by 2025, more than 17 pure electric inland river container ships will be put into operation, forming six "zero carbon" container routes covering the whole basin of the southern and northern sections of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, according to the Transportation Administration of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation.
