CTOnews.com October 12 news, analyst Guo Mingyi said recently that Apple will continue to diversify its supply chain and may expand MacBook production to Thailand in the future.

Mr Guo said Apple planned to increase shipments to the US from other overseas bases in the next three to five years, accounting for more than 25-30 per cent of global shipments, but it was unclear whether this would include MacBook computers to be assembled in Thailand. Quanta, a long-time MacBook supplier to Apple, has been expanding its business in Thailand over the past few years.

CTOnews.com has learned that in the past few years, the supply chain of Apple products has been extended to factories in India and Vietnam.

In addition, analyst Guo Mingyi also said that according to Apple's plan, India's Tata Group may cooperate with Pegatron or Wistron to develop iPhone assembly business in the future. Foxconn currently produces more than 80 per cent of its iPhone in India to meet its domestic demand. Tata's potential partnership with Pegatron or Wittronic could accelerate the increase in the proportion of iPhone produced by overseas bases.
