CTOnews.com, Oct. 12, at Google's I / O conference in May last year, Google unveiled a long-developed cool techs: holographic video chat technology Project Starline. Project Starline is essentially a 3D video chat room designed to replace one-on-one 2D video conference calls and make users feel as if they are sitting in front of a real person.

On Cloud Next 2022 today, Google announced that Project Starline is entering the "next testing phase" so that more people outside Google can experience it. Project Starline has been tested for thousands of hours inside Google and used daily in its US offices, while more than 100 corporate partners across media, healthcare and retail have received demonstrations.

Project Starline's next test plan is to "deploy equipment in selected partner offices for regular testing". The partners Google mentioned today to acquire prototypes include Salesforce, WeWork, T-Mobile and Hackensack Meridian Health, and deployment will be carried out "from this year."

CTOnews.com learned that Google had previously said that the Project Starline project had been developed for several years, with a lot of computer vision, machine learning, spatial audio and data compression technology behind it. Google has also developed a groundbreaking light field system that allows people to feel lifelike volume and depth without wearing glasses or headphones.
