CTOnews.com, Oct. 12 (Reuters)-Stellantis, the world's fourth-largest automaker, said on Wednesday that it had opened a new software center in Bangalore, India, its second innovation center in the country, focusing on cockpit and driver assistance technology.

As automakers expand their research investment, hire more executives with specific experience, and provide customers with more connectivity, data and e-commerce-driven features, software is playing an increasingly important role in modern cars. as a source of more and more income.

Stellantis aims to increase annual revenue by 20 billion euros (about 139 billion yuan) through its software-driven strategy by 2030.

The new facility in India will become the main development center for STLA SmartCockpit, one of the three major technology platforms that Stellantis will deploy in 2024, the group said in a statement. The platform focuses on digital integration of vehicles and drivers.

The center will have facilities, including the next Generation Acoustics Lab, to develop specific audio features and advanced audio experiences for Stellantis owners.

The centre will eventually employ about 500 people and will also help develop artificial intelligence (AI) and driver assistance (ADAS) technologies for autopilot, Stellantis said.

CTOnews.com learned that Bangalore developed rapidly with the support of India as an important software outsourcing region in the 1990s, attracting millions of workers and the regional headquarters of some of the largest IT companies in the world. The region now has more than 3500 IT companies and about 79 science parks.
