Howie releases new 5 million and 4 million pixel image sensors, which will be put into mass production in the first quarter of 2023

CTOnews.com October 14 news, according to Howe officials, Howie Group recently released a new OS05B CMOS image sensor and OS04L CMOS 4 megapixel (MP) image sensor.

Among them, OS05B combines pixel technology with quantum efficiency (QE) in its 5-megapixel design, which is suitable for professional and high-end consumer security cameras, such as industrial and factory surveillance systems, webcams and high-end baby monitors. OS05B adopts the optical format of 1x 2.78in and the design process of 2.0micron BSI pixel based on PureCel Plus technology. The image sensor also uses Howie's Nyxel near Infrared (NIR) technology to obtain clear images in low light conditions.

Compared with OS05A, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR1) of OS05B is improved by 32% and the quantum efficiency at the near infrared wavelength of 940nm is improved by 24%. OS05B also has selective conversion gain-high conversion gain can improve sensitivity, reduce readout noise level, and achieve optimal signal-to-noise ratio in low light conditions, while low conversion gain can achieve higher full well capacity in bright environment. OS05B can capture high-resolution video at a frame rate of 60 frames per second and has double-exposure interlaced HDR support. OS05B supports MIPI and LVDS interfaces.

OS04L can bring 2K resolution digital images and high-definition (HD) video to consumer security devices such as smart homes, doorbells, baby monitors, IP, high-definition analog cameras, etc. In addition, the 2.0 micron pixel size of the OS04L image sensor uses Howell's OmniPixel 3-HS technology.

CTOnews.com has learned that OS05B and OS04L will be available in the fourth quarter of 2022 and go into mass production in the first quarter of 2023.
