GM plans to sell electric vehicles in Japan next year, including Cadillac Lyriq SUV
CTOnews.com, October 14 (Xinhua) GM plans to sell electric cars in Japan next year, according to Shilpan Amin, head of GM's international division.
The launch will include a Cadillac Lyriq SUV, as well as a possible Chevrolet series of electric models, according to Nikkei. In addition, GM is considering launching electric vehicles in more than 60 countries around the world.
General Motors of the United States will launch electric cars simultaneously in overseas markets such as Asia and Europe, and will launch its own electric car company for the first time in Japan in 2023. In fact, it will also launch new cars in retired Europe and will re-enter the market.
CTOnews.com has learned that GM has scaled back most of its overseas operations in markets other than China and South America since 2009. However, with the improvement of profits, GM is bound to challenge the declining market again, especially the wave of new energy vehicles has come.
In the first quarter of this year, GM sold 1427000 new cars worldwide. With a year-on-year decline of 18.2%, China is still the largest sales market, surpassing North America.
