CTOnews.com Howell Group, a developer of semiconductor solutions for digital imaging, analog, touch screen and display technologies, recently released the first square 2K2K (2048 x 2048) resolution CMOS image sensor designed for wide-field security cameras (dome, fisheye and doorbell cameras) and Pass-Through (AR / VR / MR) cameras with an aspect ratio of 1:1. OS04E10 is now available and will go into mass production in the second half of 2023.

The OS04E10 is the industry's first image sensor with digital watermarking, a built-in anti-fraud feature that ensures the original video source has not been tampered with. This sensor captures fast-moving video in real time and features a 512p normally open low power mode for excellent Pre-roll video recording.

The OS04E10 can be combined with OA7600 and OA8000 application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) to achieve a fully battery-powered camera system with normally-on and Pre-roll video recording capabilities.

CTOnews.com has learned that the OS04E10 image sensor uses a 2.0 micron pixel size and 1/3.11 inch optical format, and Howell's PureCel Plus technology reduces pixel crosstalk and noise for better color reproduction in low light conditions. Onboard Nyxel Near Infrared (NIR) technology ensures images are captured with infrared sources in low or no ambient light, resulting in sharp images and helping extend battery life. The sensor's double exposure interlaced HDR mode increases dynamic range. OS04E10 supports MIPI and LVDS interfaces.
