Microsoft Word Web Dark Mode is fully online
CTOnews.com October 18 News After months of delay, Microsoft has finally rolled out Dark Mode for Word Web to everyone. This feature is no longer limited to Word Mac and Windows clients.
Microsoft previously announced that it would launch Dark Mode for Word Web in May, but the launch was delayed for some reason. In practice, Word Web dark mode implementation is just as good as Word for Mac and Windows. When enabled, dark schemes are implemented on menu controls and document backgrounds.
Additionally, users can switch to dark mode without affecting the white background of the document. With a single click, you can switch between light and dark modes. If you're happy with the dark color bands and white workspace, and you never want to see the dark workspace, Microsoft Word Web remembers the user's background switching state.
CTOnews.com learned that to use Word Web Dark Mode, navigate to View> Dark Mode. If you don't like the dark mode of the document, you can click the toggle background button, which will use a white document background.
Microsoft also noticed a few small details when developing the feature. To make sure everything looks visually impressive against the new dark background, Microsoft shifted red, blue, yellow and other colors slightly to tone down the overall palette.
Note that Microsoft Word may not remember users 'dark mode preferences across all platforms. If users have Dark Mode enabled on Word for Mac and Windows, it doesn't sync directly to Word Web. Users need to manually select settings. This is a known issue and Microsoft expects to address it in the future.
Also, sometimes when copying text from another application in dark mode, pasted text may appear as black text on a white background. To fix this, press CTRL+SHIFT+V, or paste CTRL+V, and then select Paste Text Only from the Paste Options shortcut menu.
