CTOnews.com, October 20, according to a report in Taiwan's Economic Daily, in response to the news that "TSMC will once again delay mass production of 3nm chips for three months", TSMC responded that the development of 3nm process is in line with expectations, and the yield is high, and it will be mass produced later in the fourth quarter.

People in the industry pointed out that the news of "another delay" should be related to TSMC's initial release that "3nm is expected to be mass production in the second half of 2022", but the fourth quarter also fell in the second half of the year. TSMC 3nm has no problem of "delayed production".

CTOnews.com learned that TSMC President Wei Zhijia recently mentioned at the French meeting that the 3nm progress is in line with expectations, has a good yield and will be mass produced in the fourth quarter, and that customer demand for 3nm exceeds production capacity driven by high-speed computing and smartphone applications.

In the third quarter of this year, TSMC had revenues of $20.23 billion (about 145.049 billion yuan), a gross profit margin of 60.4% and a net operating margin of 50.6%, according to the financial report. During the reporting period, TSMC shipments of 5 nm accounted for 28% of total wafer revenue, 26% of total wafer revenue, and 26% of total wafer revenue, and more advanced processes accounted for 54% of total wafer revenue.
