CTOnews.com, October 22, in an email sent to developers this week, Apple announced that from Tuesday, October 25, app-related ads will appear on App Store's "Today" and in the "you might like" area at the bottom of each App details, except Chinese mainland.

"with Today tagged ads, your App can appear prominently on the front page of App Store-making it one of the first things users see when they open App Store," Apple wrote.

This means that developers will have the opportunity to place more ads, and so far, "Today" only shows selected content from App Store editors, but there are no paid ads.

Starting from next Tuesday, all overseas developers will have the option to promote their apps on pages such as "Today" and "you may also like it".

Legal expert Florian Muller (Florian Mueller) said on Twitter that "you may also like" advertising is "another way to raise the actual application tax rate, forcing developers to buy ads on their own app pages to prevent other companies from taking users away from their own app pages."

CTOnews.com learned that App Store ads had previously been limited to keyword-based search results and the "suggestions" section of the search tab.

With "Today" and "you might like it" starting to launch ads, App Store will now offer four ad areas.

In August, Bloomberg Mark Mark Gurman said Apple hopes to double its current advertising revenue in the future, to at least $10 billion a year.

In addition to App Store,Gurman, Apple plans to launch search results ads on Apple Maps next year, while traditional banner ads have appeared on Apple's news and stock App.

"Apple acknowledges that it will increase system advertising and launch more App Store advertising space before the end of the year."
