A 12-year-old child wearing an Apple Apple Watch detected an abnormally elevated heart rate and eventually found rare cancer.

CTOnews.com, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) A 12-year-old girl's family thinks Apple Apple Watch's heart monitoring function saved her life-helping to discover a cancer that is rare in children.

One night, Imani Mile's Apple Watch began to remind her of an abnormally elevated heart rate.

Imani Mile's mother, Jessica Kitchen, took her to the hospital, where the doctor diagnosed her with appendicitis. During the operation, they found a neuroendocrine-related cancer in her appendix, which is rare in children.

Doctors later learned that the cancer had spread to other parts of Imani Mile's body. She underwent surgery at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital to remove the remaining cancerous symptoms.

"if she didn't have that watch, it would have been worse," Jessica Kitchen told Hour Detroit.

CTOnews.com learned that in July, Apple Watch helped doctors discover a rare tumor in a woman's heart after she had received repeated warnings that her heart was in atrial fibrillation.
