CTOnews.com, Oct. 24 (Xinhua)-- despite the poor outlook for the industry, Samsung has set itself a tough goal: to ship more than 40 million televisions next year, according to TheElec.

Samsung will purchase LCD panels for its TVs from Huaxing Optoelectronics, HKC, LG Display, BOE and Youda Optoelectronics. Among them, the supply of Huaxing Optoelectronics will exceed 10 million. The South Korean technology giant deliberately favoured Huaxing Optoelectronics rather than BOE after a dispute with BOE over the marketing agreement, the source said.

It is worth mentioning that Samsung also has a stake in Huaxing Optoelectronics and earlier sold its LCD factory in Suzhou to its Chinese partner, while BOE was once Samsung TV's second-largest supplier of LCD panels, but this number has declined year by year in recent years.

The technology giant hopes to consolidate its leading position in the industry and believes it must ship 40 million units a year, according to sources. About 39 million of these will be LCD models, and another 1.5 million are planned for quantum dot QD-OLED models, but Samsung's plans do not seem to include W-OLED models.

CTOnews.com learned that W-OLED panels are currently made only by LG Display, which is the main supplier of Samsung Electronics' biggest competitor in TV, LG Electronics.
