CTOnews.com, Oct. 26 (Xinhua)-- General Motors today released its financial results for the third quarter of 2022, showing revenue of $41.9 billion, up 56.4% from a year earlier and exceeding Wall Street estimates of $41.77 billion. Net profit attributable to shareholders was $3.3 billion, up 36.6% from a year earlier, and earnings per share were $2.25, exceeding Wall Street expectations of $1.89.

GM expects full-year 2022 net income of $9.6 billion to $11.2 billion, adjusted earnings before interest and tax of $13 billion to $15 billion, and diluted earnings per share of $5.76 to $6.76, CTOnews.com has learned.

GM also reported a total of 15200 electric vehicles sold in the quarter, including 14700 for the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV. The company said it had the best sales of electric cars in its history. The company also reported that it had an 8 per cent share of the us electric car market in the third quarter, thanks to record sales of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV.

It is worth mentioning that GM cut its forecast for electric vehicle sales in North America by 2023. GM had planned to sell 400000 electric vehicles locally by the end of 2023, but that is now expected to be postponed to mid-2024. But GM remains convinced that its long-term goal of selling 1 million electric vehicles in North America by 2025 has not changed.
