CTOnews.com news on October 26, learned from Huawei that during the 2022 Global Mobile Broadband Forum (Global MBB Forum), Wang Tao, managing director of Huawei and chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee, delivered a keynote speech entitled "towards 5.5G, Building the Foundation for the Future".

Wang Tao pointed out that after two years of joint exploration and efforts by the industry, 5.5G has made three key progress:

First of all, the standard rhythm is clear. 5.5G has started the process of standardization, continuously enriching the technical connotation of 5.5G, and has moved from a vision to a consensus.

Secondly, breakthroughs have been made in key technologies, and 10 gigabit capabilities have been verified by ultra-large bandwidth and ultra-large-scale antenna arrays.

Third, the panoramic view of IoT is clear, and the technologies of NB-IoT, RedCap and Passive IoT supported by 5.5G are striding forward and have the ability to integrate all IoT.

CTOnews.com learned that Wang Tao said 5.5G had entered a new stage. The industry of the future-oriented initiative is prepared together in five aspects: standard, spectrum, industrial chain, ecology and application.

In terms of standards, R18 version needs to achieve the goal of ten-fold capacity improvement of 5.5G and achieve a freeze in 2024 as scheduled; R19 and later versions will jointly explore new business and scenario capability requirements and continuously complete 5.5G standard technology to achieve 5.5G longer life cycle and stronger vitality.

In terms of spectrum, make full use of the spectrum resources of Sub100GHz to provide resource guarantee for 5.5G. Millimeter wave is the key spectrum of 5.5G, and operators need to obtain the spectrum above 800MHz to realize 10Gbps capability; 6GHz is a potentially super-large bandwidth new spectrum, and each country needs to consider sending out 6GHz spectrum after WRC-23 identification; for Sub6GHz spectrum, super bandwidth can also be achieved through spectrum reconstruction.

In terms of industrial chain, 5.5G network and terminal should do a good job in capacity matching. Fully release ten gigabytes of power. Medium and high frequency products need more than 1000 ELAA technology, the number of M-MIMO channels also need to move to 128T, providing 10 Gigabit network capacity; 5.5G chips and intelligent terminals need to go to 3T8R or more channels, and support carrier aggregation of more than 4 carriers.
