Musk, who once said he hated advertising, wanted Twitter to become "the most respected advertising platform".
Beijing, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) Today, Elon Musk, who once posted "I hate advertising" on Twitter, said he wanted Twitter to become the "most respected advertising platform" in order to win the trust of more advertising buyers before buying Twitter.
Musk and Twitter are reported to have agreed to buy Twitter for $44 billion in April. Musk, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey and investors in the deal had previously suggested abandoning advertising and seeking revenue from subscriptions and other ways. Advertisers said they were worried about the acquisition.
On Thursday, Musk tweeted: "there is a lot of speculation about why I bought Twitter and what I think about advertising. Most of them are wrong."fundamentally speaking, Twitter aspires to be the most respected advertising platform in the world, strengthen your brand and develop your business."
Advertising sales accounted for more than 90 per cent of Twitter's second-quarter revenue, and Reuters reported earlier that the company was trying to retain the most active users critical to its business.
