Rivian electric vehicle software update supports "kneeling mode", which can reduce the body height

CTOnews.com, October 28 (Xinhua)-- US electric car manufacturer Rivian recently launched a wireless software update 2022.39.03 for its R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV, according to electrek.

In addition to updating its EV user interface and Gear Guard security system, Rivian focuses on "Kneel Mode", which reduces the car's body height to about 10 inches, making it easier for drivers and passengers to get in and out of the vehicle.

Rivian shared the full details of its software update, activating "kneeling mode" to lower the Rivian truck to 10 inches (if the car has 21-inch or 22-inch wheels) and keep it fixed until the vehicle enters driving mode again, which usually takes about five seconds.

In addition, the kneeling mode function is not available when the Rivian electric vehicle is in off-road or traction mode because it may damage the load of the vehicle or traction.

CTOnews.com learned that Rivian, founded in 2009, is an emerging electric car maker whose investors, including Ford, Amazon and Cox, are considered to be one of Tesla's most threatening competitors.

Rivian plans to release its results for the third quarter of 2022, which ends September 30, on November 9, EDT. In the third quarter of 2022, the company produced and delivered 7363 and 6584 cars, respectively, a new record.
