CTOnews.com, Oct. 30 (Xinhua)-- Stellantis Group, the global parent company of Jeep, Chrysler and other auto brands, said on Friday local time that it was offering one-time voluntary severance compensation to regular U.S. employees as part of a larger restructuring to increase its focus on new technologies and low-emission vehicles, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Stellantis said in a statement that it would provide voluntary severance compensation to some employees this month and provide them with benefits they could not have received. These benefits were originally offered to employees with a pension of up to 30 years of service, as well as those who are not eligible for a pension and who have reached the age of 55 for 10 years of service.

CTOnews.com learned that Stellantis did not provide further details, including how many of the 13000 regular employees in the US are eligible for voluntary severance compensation and whether there are specific targets for attrition.

According to the financial report, in the first half of 2022, Stellantis Group's net revenue reached 88 billion euros (about 635.36 billion yuan), an increase of 17 percent over the same period last year; adjusted operating profit reached 12.4 billion euros (about 89.528 billion yuan), an increase of 44 percent over the same period last year, with an adjusted operating profit margin of 14.1 percent. During the reporting period, Stellantis Group's global sales of pure electric vehicles increased by nearly 50% year-on-year, selling 136000 units.
