Sources say Tesla transferred 200 Chinese engineers to help expand the California plant.
According to people familiar with the matter, Tesla will deploy engineers and production personnel from the recently upgraded Shanghai plant to help expand his plant in Fremont, California, a move that may help the facility increase car production.
Tesla mainly deployed on-site staff, especially automation and control engineers, to help increase production at the Fremont plant, according to people familiar with the matter. Currently, Tesla produces Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model models at the Fremont factory.
About 200 people will travel to the Fremont plant for at least three months, one of the people familiar with the matter said. The person familiar with the matter added that the first batch of Chinese employees would leave for the US as early as this month.
A representative for Tesla China declined to comment.
