CTOnews.com November 1, the latest monthly report released by Statcounter, a research agency, reveals the latest details of the operating systems running on various devices around the world. According to Statcounter, only 15% of Windows PC devices run the Windows 11 operating system.

Microsoft Windows 11 grew 1.83 percent in October 2022, climbing from 13.61 percent to 15.44 percent. So far, Windows 11 is the second most popular version, 5.83 percentage points higher than Windows 7, which has a market share of 9.61%. Windows 10, on the other hand, is still far ahead with a share of 71.29%.

Windows 8.1, Windows 8 and Windows XP carved up the rest. According to Statcounter, the current share of Windows 8.1 is 2.51% and the share of Windows XP 8 is 0.69%, while Windows XP has 0.39%. Overall, Windows has 75.93 per cent of the global desktop operating system market, with Apple macOS 15.74 per cent, Linux 2.6 per cent and ChromeOS 2.38 per cent, CTOnews.com has learned.

Although Microsoft has released new feature updates for Windows 11, the operating system's growth is unlikely to break the record any time soon. This is not just a matter of personal preference, another survey shows that about half of workstations do not meet Windows 11 hardware requirements and cannot be upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
