The new version of Apple iOS 16.2 Beta will enable India 5G: cover iPhone 12x14 series models

CTOnews.com, Nov. 2, Indian telecom operators Airtel, Jio and Vi launched 5G services in October this year. These operators only offer 5G services in a few areas. However, in order to achieve 5G connectivity, smartphone manufacturers must introduce firmware updates for eligible devices. A few weeks ago, Apple India confirmed that eligible iPhone will get a firmware update in December and will enable 5G connections. There will be 13 models of iPhone phones in India that support 5G connections.

According to a new report from the Economic Times of India, Apple plans to launch a firmware update next week to enable 5G connectivity on eligible iPhone models. This update will be released as part of the iOS 16 Beta program, so it will only apply to users running the new version of iOS 16.2 Beta on iPhone.

CTOnews.com learned that the report also revealed that Apple executives will soon meet with members of India's Ministry of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and inform them of the launch of the iOS 16 public beta firmware. Apple will introduce support for Airtel 5G Plus and Jio True 5G in the upcoming iOS 16 Beta beta update.
