CTOnews.com, November 3, according to the 5G Propulsion Group, recently, under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Propulsion Group, Nokia Bell successfully completed the millimeter wave FR2 only networking function test of the 5G enhancement technology research and development experiment, and achieved the peak rates of downlink 6.8Gbps and uplink 2.1Gbps.

CTOnews.com learned that in this test, Nokia Bell used commercial-grade millimeter wave base station products to support maximum 800MHz bandwidth and adopted millimeter wave CPE terminals with Qualcomm Snapdragon X655G modems. The key technologies such as downlink 4x200MHz carrier aggregation, uplink 2x200MHz carrier aggregation, frame structure with different uplink ratio (DDDSU and DSUUU), adaptive modulation and coding (downlink 256QAM), CSI measurement and feedback, multi-antenna technology, beam management, FR2 only networking function and basic functions of RRC layer protocol are verified in the laboratory, and the expected results are achieved. It fully proves the technological leadership of Nokia Bell's millimeter wave base station equipment in function, performance, product shape and so on.

Since 2019, Nokia Bell has been actively involved in the millimeter wave test of the IMT-2020 (5G) propulsion group, verifying the key technologies in different networking modes (NSA,NR-DC,FR2 only).

Under the guidance of IMT-2020 (5G) Propulsion Group, Nokia Bell will continue to carry out outfield testing of FR2 only networking to prepare for the commercial and promotion of millimeter wave in China.
