CTOnews.com, Nov. 5 (Xinhua)-- Yoel Roth, head of security and integrity at Twitter, said yesterday's layoffs caused about 50% of employees to lose their jobs after the social media was acquired by billionaire Musk.

"yesterday's layoffs affected about 15% of our security review team (and about 50% of the company's layoffs), and our front-line regulators were least affected," he said in a tweet. " He also said that more than 80% of the content reviews will not be affected and that core functions can be guaranteed.

According to employees, several key departments of Twitter were severely affected by the company's massive layoffs on Friday, according to Theinformation. Among the hardest hit are the teams responsible for product and advertising engineering, as well as the infrastructure team (internally known as Redbird) and the enterprise communications team that run the data center.

CTOnews.com learned that Twitter emailed employees yesterday that they would be informed of the layoffs at 9: 00 a. M. Pacific time on Friday (0: 00 Beijing time today). Twitter, which currently has more than 7000 employees, was expected to cut about 50 per cent of its workforce this time. Twitter said that for employees not affected by the layoffs, the company will notify the results through their office email; for employees affected by the layoffs, the results will be notified through their personal emails.
