Poster for the fourth season of Westworld, Jonathan Nolan, one of the show's creators, reportedly said at the New York Comic-Con Show last month that he wanted a fifth and final season, but was still in talks with HBO. Now, HBO has officially decided to cancel season 5.

Deadline says the ratings of Westworld have been declining. During Warner Bros. Discovery's third-quarter earnings call yesterday, CEO David Zaslav said the great experiment of creating things at all costs was over, stressing that he would not pay millions for a low-rated show.

The Westworld series is based on the 1973 film of the same name, with Jonathan Nolan as its chief director.
