On November 6, Elon Musk, Twitter's new boss, threatened that he might find advertisers who boycotted Twitter and humiliate them by naming them.

Musk posted on Friday that revenue from the platform fell sharply after he bought Twitter because militant groups put pressure on advertisers to stop buying ads.

A Twitter user named Mike Davis responded to Musk's tweet and suggested: "you have nearly 114m followers on Twitter and you can name and humiliate advertisers who succumb to advertising boycotts so we can resist them. Start a $8-a-month subscription program as soon as possible so that we can now begin to make up for lost revenue."

Musk responded: "Thank you, if this situation continues, thermonuclear (thermonuclear) roll call and humiliation will be possible."

More than 90% of Twitter's revenue depends on advertising, although that may change under Mr Musk. Musk has begun charging users $8 a month to help them verify the status of their accounts.

Musk completed a $44 billion deal to buy Twitter last week and promised to restore "freedom of expression" by providing a "digital city square" that can be debated freely. However, dozens of groups called on Twitter advertisers to stop advertising on the platform, claiming that Mr Musk's proposed changes would allow Twitter to post "harmful content", thus becoming a "direct threat to public safety".

In order to maintain Twitter's financial operation, Musk announced that he would fire half of Twitter's 7500 employees. He claimed that the company had been losing money until he took over. "Unfortunately, for Twitter layoffs, when the company loses more than $4 million a day, we have no choice," Musk said. "

Musk is still the richest man in the world, with a net worth of more than $208 billion, according to Forbes magazine.
