Vivo successfully completed the test of 5G RedCap technology: an experimental prototype based on self-developed terminal
CTOnews.com, November 7, according to the release of 5G Propulsion Group, recently, under the guidance of IMT-2020 (5G) Propulsion Group, vivo and CITIC Mobile successfully completed the key technology verification of R17 RedCap in the laboratory of China Institute of Information and Communication. Based on the self-developed terminal experimental prototype, vivo conducted a joint test with the 5G commercial base station of CITIC Mobile. The technical verification followed the 5G enhancement technology research and development test NR RedCap test specification formulated by the 5G test working group of IMT-2020 (5G) propulsion group.
For a long time, the mobile communication laboratory of vivo Communication Research Institute has carried out research work based on the self-developed terminal verification platform and the complete terminal communication protocol stack, focusing on the tracking and verification of communication cutting-edge technologies. In line with the principle of open platform and industrial empowerment, the Communications Research Institute has carried out extensive cooperation with industry partners to jointly promote the standard evolution, R & D verification and industrialization of 5G enhanced technologies such as Redcap, and continue to carry out joint demonstration and verification of 6G technology.
CTOnews.com learned that in the development of 3GPP RedCap-related standards, vivo contributed to the standardization of terminal single receiving antenna, RRM measurement relaxation, independent initial bandwidth and NCD-SSB, which further reduced the cost and power consumption of RedCap terminals.
In 2022, in order to promote the development and maturity of the domestic RedCap industry chain, the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group organized to study the application scenarios and key technologies of RedCap, studied the 5G network upgrade scheme adapted to RedCap terminals, formulated key technology test specifications, and organized the verification of key technologies of RedCap. Vivo actively participated in 5G enhanced technology research and development test NR RedCap technology test specification and 5G digital cellular mobile communication network lightweight (RedCap) terminal equipment industry standard organized by 5G test working group, led the research on 5G FR1 RedCap terminal OTA test method at CCSA, and discussed RedCap key technologies and test solutions with industry partners.
