EU antitrust authorities will file a lawsuit against Meta for alleged misuse of customer data

According to news in the morning of November 10, Beijing time, the EU antitrust agency reportedly filed a complaint against Facebook parent company Meta for allegedly abusing customer data to tie it to classified advertising services.

If the Meta does violate EU antitrust law, the European Commission can impose a fine of 10 per cent of a company's annual global revenues. Meta declined to comment.

The European Commission began investigating the Meta in June last year, the same day the British competition agency stepped in.

Meta competitors have submitted information to the European Commission, which in recent months has asked them to delete confidential information. Generally speaking, this is a bad signal, which means that the committee will issue a statement of objection to the company under investigation, in which it will list in detail the anti-competitive behavior of the company.
