CTOnews.com, November 10 (Xinhua)-- today, Strategy Analytics released a report saying that revenue from the global smartphone application processor market grew 26% in 2022, to $8.9 billion (about 64.525 billion yuan).

CTOnews.com learned that Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple, Samsung LSI and Ziguang Zhanrui ranked among the top five in terms of market share of smartphone application processors. Among them, Qualcomm remains the leader in the smartphone application processor market with 40% of revenue, followed by MediaTek (26%) and Apple (25.5%).

According to the report, 5G application processor shipments accounted for 55% of Q2 smartphone application processor shipments in 2022. TSMC makes more than 80% of smartphone application processor shipments. Qualcomm, Samsung Foundry's main customer, has transferred orders to TSMC in recent quarters. Google and JLQ Technologies, a joint venture between Leadcore and Qualcomm, shipped more than 1 million Q2 smartphone application processors in 2022.

Strategy Analytics said that due to the continued weakness of Android application processors in China, MediaTek's application processor shipments and revenue are expected to decline in the second half of 2022. In addition, due to the continued growth of T14G smartphones, Ziguang Zhanrui's shipments of Q2 increased by 26% in 2022.
