CTOnews.com, Nov. 10, Intel launched Cloud Hypervisor, an open source project written by Rust a few years ago, which claims to be a modern, security-centric, cloud-centric Rust VMM hypervisor for modern hardware / software.

The project was incorporated into the Linux Foundation last year, and Intel remains a major contributor to the project. Now, Intel's main competitor, AMD, has announced that it has joined the Cloud Hypervisor project.

The Linux Foundation said in a recent press release that AMD has joined the Cloud Hypervisor project as a member of the advisory board. Members of the Cloud Hypervisor project also include well-known companies such as Alibaba, Arm, Byte Jump, Intel, Microsoft and Tencent.

CTOnews.com learned that the project experimentally supported AArch64 in 2020, and Arm became an important contributor to Cloud Hypervisor. In addition to looking to Linux VM, Microsoft is another important contributor to Cloud Hypervisor and ensures good Windows / MSHV support.

Now, AMD also has a place in Cloud Hypervisor, expected to ensure that their EPYC processors and their functions are well supported by Cloud Hypervisor.

AMD announced that the fourth-generation EPYC server CPU, codenamed Genoa, will be unveiled at 10:00 Pacific time on November 10 (1: 00 a.m. Beijing time the next day).
