CTOnews.com, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) Apple iPhone and Apple Watch users in Colorado can now add their electronic ID cards and driver's licenses to their wallet apps as identification instead of physical cards at TSA checkpoints at specific airports.

The Colorado Inland Revenue Bureau recently announced the news and said wallet-based ID cards or licenses can be shown at specific TSA checkpoints at Denver Airport. Users with a current valid driving license or ID card issued by Colorado can use a digital ID card.

The Inland Revenue Bureau said that the wallet ID card is designed as a companion to the actual driver's license or ID card, not a substitute. Colorado users must continue to carry their physical driver's license or ID card with them, and the ID card in their wallet can only be used at the airport.

CTOnews.com has learned that Apple has added support in iOS 15 or newer to allow users of participating states in the United States to add their driver's license and state ID to the wallet app. So far, Arizona, Maryland and Colorado support this feature.

Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma and Utah will be supported in the future.
