CTOnews.com November 11 news, according to HKEx filings, Berkshire Hathaway reduced its stake in more than 5.78 million BYD H shares to 16.62% at HK $196.99 on November 8.
In September 2008, Buffett bought 225 million BYD shares at HK $8 a share for a total price of US $1.8 billion, accounting for 9.89 per cent of the expanded share capital. The sale is not the first time Berkshire Hathaway has recently reduced its stake in BYD.
Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway sold 1.33 million BYD H shares on August 24, reduced its stake in 171.6 million BYD H shares on September 1, and sold 329.7 million BYD H shares on November 1, according to Hong Kong Stock Exchange filings.
CTOnews.com learned that as one of the largest new energy vehicle manufacturers in China, data showed that BYD sold 217816 vehicles in October, an increase of 142.2 percent over the same period last year, and passenger car sales of 217518 vehicles (including 9529 exports), up 144.7 percent from the same period last year.
