CTOnews.com, Nov. 12 (Reuters)-Tesla is considering exporting Chinese-made electric cars to the United States, reflecting the carmaker's growing cost advantage at its Shanghai plant and slowing demand from Chinese consumers, according to Reuters.

Tesla didn't immediately respond to a request for comment, but Mr Musk responded to an "error" in his Twitter post, but did not elaborate.

Tesla's Shanghai super factory, which was upgraded earlier this year, can produce 1.1 million electric vehicles a year, making it Tesla's most productive factory. The Shanghai plant produces Model 3 and Model Y, which are sold in China and exported to markets such as Europe, Australia and Southeast Asia.

So far, CTOnews.com has learned that Tesla has been making cars sold in North America at his plants in Fremont, Calif., and Austin, Texas. The California plant was Tesla's first factory, producing Model S, Model 3, as well as Model X and Model Y. The Texas plant opened earlier this year to produce Model Y and will produce Tesla's upcoming Cybertruck.
