Apple Epic goes to court again over App Store commission dispute

CTOnews.com learned that the dispute began in 2020 over a 30 per cent commission on App Store for Fortnite, a popular game owned by Epic Games. Epic Games provided players with a way to avoid in-app purchases, which Apple later decided violated App Store's policies and took it off the shelves.

Epic Games's lawsuit required a way to allow third-party app stores or other apps to be installed on iOS devices, and Epic Games was at a disadvantage in the initial lawsuit, which eventually led to the company's decision to appeal. Although Apple won the antitrust lawsuit, it was ordered to allow developers to add links to external sites that accept payment in the app.
