CTOnews.com, November 16 (Xinhua)-- the podcast editing tool Descript has received a major update this week, adding more than 30 new visual and AI features to make video editing as easy as document / slide editing.

One of the highlights of this update is Scenes, which is described as "a visual way to make a video, just like making a slide show". The Scenes function allows you to edit videos using a transcription-based core editor. Descript says the new interface is also more intuitive and provides the same powerful features as traditional video editors.

"Video goes hand in hand with text and becomes something that everyone uses to create and communicate," says Andrew Mason, chief executive of Descript. "the stage is ready, and the only thing that hinders it is the tools. At the new Descript, we replace the tedious work of timeline editing with a tool as familiar as a word processor-so you can make, edit and share videos without disrupting your creative process."

CTOnews.com learned that other features added to the new version include a built-in tape recorder that captures screens and cameras on different tracks, a green screen function based on AI, and a writer mode that helps users write scripts.

The company behind the app announced a new round of investment led by OpenAI Startup Fund, raising $50 million to accelerate investment in artificial intelligence tools. After completing the financing, the company raised a total of US $100 million.
