CTOnews.com, November 16, two college students currently studying at Southern Methodist University equipped a supercomputer with 16 Nvidia Jetson Nano kits, power supplies, fans and network switches using transparent acrylic panels.

The size of this supercomputer is close to that of a traditional tower chassis, and the original purpose of the school's program is to give students a better understanding of the inner workings of computer clusters. Originally, this super computer is equipped on the cardboard box. With the students' more in-depth understanding of the operation principle of cluster supercomputing and mastering the correct technologies such as stripping wires and laser cutting, this relatively mature supercomputing system is finally available.

CTOnews.com learned that the 16 Nvidia Jetson Nano kits used in the project were donated by external funds and sold for $99 each. It offers a 64-bit Arm A57 processor and a 128core Nvidia Maxwell graphics card. Jetson Nano is expected to provide about 472 GFLOPs of FP16 computing, which has become the standard for entry-level artificial intelligence workloads.
