The rising sea level is about to disappear, and this Oceanian island nation will be the first to enter the Yuan Universe.

CTOnews.com, Nov. 16 (Reuters)-with global temperatures expected to rise by 2.8 degrees Celsius by the end of the century, the Oceanian island nation of Tuvalu says it has no choice but to build its own digital version.

Tuvalu Foreign Minister Simon Kofe said at the COP27 climate summit on Tuesday that Tuvalu will seek to move into meta-universe to protect its culture and history in the event of sea-level rise.

"as our land disappears, we have no choice but to become the first digital country in the world," Kofe said in a video. "our land, our oceans, our culture are the most precious assets of our people. To protect them from harm, no matter what happens in the real world, we will transfer them to the cloud."

CTOnews.com learned that this is not the first time Tuvalu has raised concerns. At last year's COP26 summit, Kofe spoke knee-deep in the water, highlighting the threat climate change poses to the survival of island nations such as Tuvalu.

Tuvalu is an archipelago country made up of nine islands between Australia and Hawaii with a population of about 12000. Climate scientists predict that the entire country of Tuvalu will be submerged by the end of the 21st century.
