Amazon already runs the Amazon pharmacy, where people can buy prescription drugs through Amazon's online store without leaving their homes.

The new platform, Amazon Clinic, aims to provide virtual care for people by working with trusted suppliers, as well as affordable care for more than 20 common health conditions, such as allergies, acne and hair loss. It will operate in 32 states in the United States.

According to their personal preferences, interested customers can select telemedicine providers from new health care stores. Just mention the illness, fill out a short acceptance questionnaire, and contact the clinician directly through a secure message-based portal. CTOnews.com learned that after information-based consultation, clinicians can send personalized treatment plans to customers' preferred pharmacies, including any necessary prescriptions.

The consultation includes follow-up information with the clinician within two weeks of the initial consultation.

Amazon also said that any telemedicine provider on Amazon Clinic is subject to rigorous clinical quality and customer experience assessment by its clinical leadership team.

Finally, Amazon pointed out that if the back-office clinical team feels that virtual care is not the right solution for the user, they will let the user know in advance before contacting the health care provider.
