Users of RTX 4090 graphics card sued Nvidia due to the burning of 16Pin power cord.

The user, Lucas Genova, recently filed a class-action lawsuit against Nvidia over a 16-Pin power cord burn. Genova sued Nvidia for unjust enrichment, breach of warranty, fraud and violation of New York's general commercial law, the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit, filed Nov. 11 in federal court in California, alleges Nvidia "marketed RTX 4090 with defective and dangerous power cord plugs and sockets, which rendered consumer cards unusable and posed a serious electrical and fire hazard to every purchaser. "Genova appears to be filing a class action lawsuit on behalf of itself and all those who purchased the GeForce RTX 4090.

Plaintiff reportedly purchased the GeForce RTX 4090 from Best Buy for $1,599.99. He was reportedly "experienced in installing computer components such as graphics cards" and followed best practices in installing graphics cards. After installation, Genova later discovered that his 16-Pin power cord was burning and melting.

"Plaintiffs and class members have been hit twice: buying at a high price (suggested retail price of $1599) a dangerous product that should not be sold in its current state," the lawsuit states. "

According to foreign media statistics, at least 26-bit GeForce RTX 4090 users have reported that they have encountered the problem of burning 16Pin power cables, and some have also damaged the sockets on the graphics card.

CTOnews.com understands that NVIDIA is still investigating the issue of the 16Pin power cord burn, and recently said that it has no further details to share with the public, but NVIDIA and its AIB partners have promised to provide fast returns for affected users.
