Facebook has issued a new rule: the profile page no longer displays information such as home address, content of interest, etc.
CTOnews.com, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) the new Facebook regulations will reduce the display of users' personal information and prevent sensitive information such as the user's sexual orientation from being known to others. The social media company also plans to delete "interested in" areas, home addresses and other related information that may indicate a user's sexual orientation.
In a statement to TechCrunch, a spokesman for Facebook said:
Our goal is to make Facebook easier to navigate and use, and we are deleting some profile fields, including content of interest and home addresses.
We are sending notifications to people who have completed these fields to let them know that they will be deleted. This change does not affect anyone sharing this information on Facebook.
CTOnews.com learned that Instagram, owned by TikTok and Meta, does not provide more in-depth information fields, but is added as part of a resume. As more and more people know how their messages are used for targeted advertising on social media, they no longer like to fill in these messages.
