In addition, XeSS integration enables full compatibility of Unreal engines with all four upgrade models of Nvidia, AMD, and Intel, including DLSS, NIS, FSR, and XeSS, and it also supports proprietary upgrade solutions for Unreal engines.

CTOnews.com Science Popularization, Xe Super sampling (XeSS) is Intel's time domain resolution upgrade product, which is similar to AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and Nvidia's Deep Learning Super sampling (DLSS) technology. From a technical point of view, XeSS is more similar to DLSS, it also uses AI to upgrade images, but unlike DLSS, XeSS has different modes of operation on different GPU types.

To put it simply, Intel uses the "advanced" mode on its own GPU platform, based on the Intel XMX AI core, which exists only in Arc Alchemist GPU; in contrast, there is a "low-level" mode to cover the DP4a instruction set, mainly for other types of GPU, including GPU from Nvidia and AMD.

The XeSS plug-in is currently available in versions 4.26 and 5.0. This plug-in is currently only available on Github, but we expect it to hit the unreal engine market soon, just like AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS.

It is reported that the plug-in for Intel will replace the temporary anti-aliasing (TAA) of the unreal engine with XeSS and integrate at the beginning of the post-processing phase. In this way, XeSS upgrades only the necessary parts of the rendering pipeline, while retaining the rest of the game, such as HUD, to render at native resolution for better image quality.
