CTOnews.com Microsoft announced that starting in January 2023, users will be blocked from accessing SharePoint Online and OneDrive through Internet Explorer 11 and IE mode of Microsoft Edge browser. Microsoft urged users who still use these outdated browsers to upgrade to a "modern browser," primarily Chromium-based Edge.

CTOnews.com understands that Microsoft says the change will take effect in mid-January 2023, meaning users will not be able to access OneDrive and SharePoint through IE11. Currently, if you visit OneDrive or SharePoint on the web using IE11, you will be redirected to a page that reminds you to upgrade your browser. After this date, the jump page will no longer be displayed, and the connection request will be displayed directly.

Last August, Microsoft announced that Microsoft 365 services no longer support IE 11, and this adjustment is to better advance that goal. In June of this year, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer, although there are some signs that it is still lurking in some Windows 11 PCs. As a result, the company has updated IE mode in Edge to mitigate some of the usage issues caused by this move.
